Aims & Objectives of the London Support Group The LSG aims to be effective in the support of targets of workplace bullying, to empower them to regain control and help speed up the process of recovery. Specifically, 1. To provide a safe environment for the members to share their experiences. 2. To provide members with both face to face and internet based support and advice. 3. Access to support is free – there will be no charge for membership or meetings. Any future changes to services may require a change in this policy although it would be hoped that any costs could be met by funding to continue to provide free access to support. 4. Provide recognition and validation of the bullying experience and each members feelings. 5. The LSG as a group has a desire for change and seeks to foster an infectious determination to take action against workplace bullying, whether on an individual or collective basis. It is appreciated that each members individual circumstances are different and any decision to be involved or take action will be respected. 6. The group has an environment of sharing information to help others. Although not qualified, members of the LSG may give legal or health advice or share good legal recommendations based on their experiences. This is done in good faith and any member taking advice accepts full responsibility to act on it or not. 7. To have a culture of respect, trust and confidentiality within the group and between all members. 8. In some circumstances, the LSG may provide more personal support. This may be through a buddy system or more specialised support including attendance at employment tribunals, meetings with occupational health or solicitors. 9. Provide a website with local resources including a members only section. 10. To have a membership that is compatible to the group and that its members have choice, which is missing when being bullied, to participate and belong to the group. The terms of membership are geared to the members making a positive choice to participate. 11. The LSG is a member of the Support Group Network to ensure that the members individually and the group as a whole have a voice in the bigger workplace bullying picture, including campaigning issues. 12. To have a sustainable support system to ensure the group runs at its maximum potential and has a long life. This will be done by:
